Just got mine today and im worried about how legit it is.

Is it supposed to smell of alcohol so strongly?

It seems to dry almost immediately when i apply it, is this normal? Because most people say it takes 30 mins.

Advice would be appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about it. Dr Lee is legit and yes his minoxidil does smell of strong alcohol and dries super quick. Less than 30 minutes easily. A lot of people sware by it. I tried it but the high alcohol content irritated my scalp with continued use. Now I only use it on occasion when I need it to dry in a hurry.
Just my luck...PPG no problem...but alcohol irritates my scalp

Is this "super quick drying" minoxidil the same as minoxidil plus Retin-A? That's the kind I use, and it also smells like alcohol but dries in no time.

No, I believe he is reffering to Dr Lee's Standard minoxidil (product 500).

How long and what do you think of it? Any signs of irritation or anything? Retin-A along with Xandrox 12.5% are on my immediate plan B list should results ever cease.

No worries, I use Dr Lees and yes it does have a heavy odor of alcohol for a minute or two. Wonderful stuff besides that. The drying time will vary. I have days where it takes 1 minute (it seems) to 30 minutes at times. I think this depends on your day to day scalp condition, weather, and other issues.

I think the high alcohol content irritates mine too. Places that I apply it have a white residue and go dry and flaky. Never had this prob with regular minoxidil.

Is this the same problem that you had? or should it go away with continued use?

The smell is the extra alcohol that is in place of the PPG. This accounts for the drying time. Were you to ever get minoxidil 5% made in a pharmacy it would be this same formula. In fact many of the folks in Canada that get 5% in a pharmacy, this is the same as Dr Lees.

The flakes (dried minoxidil) come and go, I seem to get them half the time. I just brush them off, only takes a moment, way better than letting that other garbage sit on my scalp for 3 to 4 hours.

If you do have irritaion from higher alcohol, try a hydrating shampoo/conditioner. I use TIGI:Moisture maniac.

Because Dr lees minoxidil seems to dry so fast on my scalp, is it okay to wet my scalp 30 mins after applying it so i can wash away the residue.

Cassin,

I see that you apply minoxidil and tricomin for your regime, do you do these on the same day, every day. How does that work if you want to use minoxidil and tricomin together (I don't mean mixed together of course)?

One after another with about 30 minutes in between, in any order

I tend to apply my minoxidil FIRST, and let it set in a bit. Then, spray on the other stuff, or in my case, rub in a little spironolactone cream.

Well the kind I use isn't from Dr. Lee, but it does dry very quickly. I haven't seen a signficant amount of regrowth, but no further loss and shedding has stopped completely.
