yesterday as i was reading the news of the world tabloid magazine i came across a article about a guy who was 19 years old who was experiecing hairloss and was worried about it so he wrote to T.V Doctor hilary jones.

the docs response was use regaine to prevent further hairloss(this is incorecct because everyone knows that minoxidil will only revive follicles and will defintley not stop your hairloss) and is second word of wisdom was just pu7t some nanogen fibres on it no one will know.I think the Doctor should be struck off because he has no knowledge about anything

.......................whats so pathetic about this is that it shows just how uneducated so many doctors are about hair.

You ask them a hair question, they consult the Physician Desk Reference and read that there are propecia and minoxidil for hair, and thats it. Thats all they know. Most docs can tell you that propecia helps suppress DHT, but other than mumbling things about "increased blood flow" and opening potassium channels, they wont know anything about the myriad ways that minoxidil seems to help like inhibition of collagen formation and hardneing and cross linkage in the connective tissue sheath, upping VEGF, upping IGF-1 and suppression of TGF-beta through sulfynlyl recptors etc.

Most know nothing of ketoconazole or topical spironolactone or latanaprost and other prostaglandin analogues hypertrichotic effects that are documented in medical journals. They will almost all tell you that things like topical free form fatty acids and copper peptides are "internet unproven junk" even though we have seen pictures of men who have had gains with them alone.

Hair just isn't very high on many doctors radar. Dermatologsits and especially trichologist seem alot more concerned and knowledgable about hair. At least thats my experience.
