I am planning on starting minoxidil now and throw in propecia about 1.5 years later. Is it possible that propecia can increase the effectiveness of minoxidil after 1.5 years, save minoxidil grown hairs from thinning out and falling out and prevent the minoxidil from stopping its work?(This dosent imply that i am gonna stop using minoxidil)

Their are PROVEN studies that suggest minoxidil loses its efficiency after 2 years of use. After this you have to up you dosage or just quit.

Using finasteride later is your choice. You are trying to conserve your treatments. Its good.

minoxidil wont save your hair long term so you pretty much have to start finasteride if you want to keep your hair

Yea so thats what my question is - Can finasteride increase the efficacy of minoxidil beyond two years?

Both Finasteride and Minoxidil have different mechanisms at treating Androgenetic Alopecia. Finasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor while Minoxidil is a growth stimulant.

In my opinion, I believe that when treatments are combined together, they can work with one another at treating hair loss and improve each other's efficacy since both of them are treating the same problem, just in different mechanisms.

I used topical Minoxidil for over three years I don't think the medication loses its efficacy through out time, I recently switched to oral Minoxidil. What I actually think happens is that sometimes Androgenetic Alopecia can get more aggressive and then Minoxidil seems to be less effective.
