Dosages of dutasteride?? Everyday Vs every other day Vs twice weekly

Firstly i posted a topic in this section last week about side effects of dutasteride, dosage and 'straw' effect.

There were about 5 replys and now the post has vanished.

Enquiring what dosages of dutasteride people are taking and what their results have been.

I took dutasteride (avdrt) for near enough two years combined with rogain and more recently spironolactone 5%cream with reasonable results but from looking at pictures from previous holidays it seems that my hair looked better back then albeit less hair. The more i think about it the more my hair may have this straw effect.

I have cut my dutasteride back from 0.5 every day to 2-3 times a week. Have been doing this for a bout 2 weeks. Possibly slightly healthier looking hair already. May well be in my head tho.

Have read an article which i cant find now that 0.5 dutasteride every day can be too much for younger males. I'm 24.

What effects have others had with cutting their dutasteride back? How long did it take to lose the straw effect?

Thoughts and opinions appreciated!!!

Hello,
with 0,5mg/day my hair was very very dry, like straw and yellowish (I'm blond)
Now with 2caps/week I've improoved the quality of my hair and it seems to have the same terapeutic effect...
Don't wash your hair everyday and try with Omega3,6,9.
I think is a price to pay for some Duta's users...

I have reduced my dosage as well, I take about 3 caps a week. dutasteride is such a strong drug, that I assume this is healthier for the body with the same benefits. Though I am already an older male.

Same for me...started with 0.5 everyday..after 2 weeks my hair was like dry, like straw, feel lost, clueless all the time haah , really dry skin and eyes..got contact lenses..big pain in the arse...reduced my dose for 1 cap every 5 days. Things started to look better...same benefits...every person react differently to the drug..Dosage is the key.I am trying different homemade Dutasteride Topical too...mixed with organogel and aloe vera...dutasteride is a really powerful drug....

you guys like powersam who said that once a day was too much for you- what do you mean? i don't understand how taking it more frequently(daily) compared to less frequently(once or twice a week) can result in worse outcomes. i've been on once a day for almost 16 months and haven't noticed any of it

Hey Jayman, you back. I started dutasteride not long after you last here think but sadly its just been a downhill rollercoaster..an accleration from when I was on finasteride. I'm considering throwing in the towel. I been thinking about continuing dutasteride 2 days per week and 0.25mg finasteride on the off days, I wasn't able to take full finasteride dose..made me too tired. Gotta be some combo that's going to work...feel like Lawnmower man tryin to find the exit.

How are you doing..things must be pretty stable now you bin on dutasteride so long.

Strange. I've been taking Avodart since May '03 (started off taking it every other day then switched to a daily dose after 15 or 16 months) and the higher dose was definitely more effective. I wonder why your experience was the reverse.

Maybe minoxidil-Spectral works bad?

i see without dutasteride that my Hairs get very worse with minoxidil

and Nick should Quit Spectral in Spectral is minoxidil or?
