Is there really such a thing? Let's say you shed a bunch of hair on a day. Like 100. How long will it take for most of those hairs to have begun growing again? Is there a dormancy period?
The resting phase follows the catagen phase and normally lasts about 5-6 weeks. During this time the hair does not grow but stays attached to the follicle while the dermal papilla stays in a resting phase below. Approximately 10-15 percent of all hairs are in this phase at an one time.
At the end of the Telogen phase the hair follicle re-enters the Anagen phase. The dermal papilla and the base of the follicle join together again and a new hair begins to form. If the old hair has not already been shed the new hair pushes the old one out and the growth cycle starts all over again.
What I meant to ask is. If a hair sheds from the telogen phase because of minoxidil will it be possible for it to stay dormant for a while? Or does it start to grow immediately. I know minoxidil is an anagen stimulator. It will take hair from the telogen phase and push it into the anagen phase. You shed those and they regrow...thats it. But... can some of those hair still stay in for their telogen phase time? Like it is usually 3 months right...
I know this sounds stupid and all but basically I am curious if people on treatments will suddenly see hair that "slept" pop up a few weeks/months later. lol
