Dont you think it's weird how different people react to male pattern baldness?

Like, my best friend, he's been losing his hair for years and really doesn't care. I'm sure many people I know are losing their hair to some extent, and genuinely it just doesn't seem to bother them that much.

Me, when I noticed the first TINY bit of recession i FREAKED out! lol

I think it's mad just how differently different people react to a condition that is really as odd but also as common as male pattern baldness is.

Just wondered what your thoughts on this were

its the media and marketing that make hair loss less appealing

Yeah but you have to admit that it effects some men ALOT differently from others.

Some guys who go bald in their 20s are like "ugh this sucks" and shave it off and get on with their lives.

Then there are guys who see it as the end of the world, get depressed about it, take dangerous meds for it and rub rogaine on their head everyday.

These are the sort of men who come to this site.

If it was socially acceptable to go bald at 16 I would be all for it

Unfortunately it isn't, so I have to take inexpensive drugs with limited side effects in order to not be.

I was comfortable with maturing to a NW2. I'm not comfortable with losing my hair in a NW6 pattern. Androgenic alopecia isn't a part of maturing; it's a f*****g disease which makes most men a lot less attractive.

aw I think it's very unfair to say that people who aren't cool with it are insecure or like.. that it suggests some kind of problem or ego (well, maybe the latter!).

I just have a lot of pride in my appearance and thick Italian hair, that's all

I mean if all girls got FPB they would FREAK!! lol - does that mean they have a problem, or they just like their hair?

true, but FPB has wayyyyyy more of a stigma attached to it than male pattern baldness. so i, well, i don't think anyone deserves to go bald at all. but i think FPB could probably be more damaging to the women who get it young than male pattern baldness to men who get it young.
and that's coming from someone who started receding at 15 or 16.

the thing that annoys me is that people who don't understand it say stuff like 'oh it's not that bad' or 'it happens to lots of people' or something
i just think, my favourite aspect of my appearance was my hair. not only am i losing that, but losing it also drastically alters the way my face looks too. and not for the better. i think it's ridiculous that people think it's 'just' losing your hair or whatever.

Insecurity my ***. Who wants to be ugly as f***? Some men looks good bald, but that's the minority, and it's usually men who're removing all their hair voluntarily. Men who don't give a sh*t about going bald, are not aware of the significance of hair when it comes to attraction. I'm not saying that they don't get women, because they do, but a lot of women won't look at you twice, if you're bald. I think women with long hair are much more attractive than women with short hair. Hair is important.

This is why I'm fighting AA. It has nothing to do with insecurity.

Believe it or not not everybody is all that concerned about their level of attractivness. Otherwise there would be no fat people because they'd all diet and excercise as soon as they gained weight, there would also be nobody wearing glasses or bad clothes. I see plenty of people who could easily make these changes and dramaticly improve their attractivness but they dont seem to have any interest.
You think bald millionaires or sports stars spend much time worrying about it? Some do, most dont.

I'm sure if there was such a thing as FPB in the same way as male pattern baldness then there would be more sympathy for women sufferers than we get. You certainly would'nt get horseshoe women walking around. I dont think any of these women would get laid ever! And I think there would be quite a few suicides too.

Fat people care. Most of them. But you're right, some people don't give a sh*t about looks.

Yes I think its fascinating how different people react to things like this...some guys just shave it and move on without hardly batting an eyelid while others think their whole life is over when they get to NW2

I'm sure we've all seen documentaries about people who have things like extreme facial disfigurements or multiple amputations and they have more self-confidence than most people I know.

Things like self-esteem, insecurity, self image seem to vary wildly between all sorts of people no matter what they look like, beautiful or ugly or just average. We should probably be looking at this as much as treatments for this cursed male pattern baldness.
