Either this is some big joke or rescuehair is yet another hair-concious guy who is under huge, huge misconceptions, because that is yet another redicuolous and absurd statement.

The "jet streams" in a shower have nothing to do with male pattern baldness or how healthy your hair appears, lol, I can't believe people would actually believe this

All I'm saying is that my hair always appears better when I wash it in a sink. If it looks better, than thinning hair is less noticeable. I'm not talking about curing it male pattern baldness, this is just a technique that I think makes hair a little easier to manage. Hair is most easily damaged when it is wet, and furthermore, shower heads can contain impure water and dries out the hair, making thinning more apparent. And if it's too much of a hassle, well no one's putting a gun to your head so quit whinning, it's just a suggestion.

The thing is it'll be the same impure water that's coming out of your sink too. Having water pass through a shower head doesn't make it any more impure than it would coming out of the sink. You may get lime deposits on the shower head but hopefully you clean them off from time to time.

That being said....if water impurities is a concern of yours. Look into a shower head 2 stage filter. I've been using a good one for about a week now due to high chlorine that my water has. I'm now seriously thinking about getting a filter system for my bathroom sink since it's the only water source in my apt that doesn't have one. It's also the only one where I can still smell chlorine coming out of.

dude I meant no harm, but I'm just a real hater of these absolutely absurd "old wives tales"... under no circumstances should your hair look any friggen different because you washed your hair on a certain day in the sink. Sink water, shower water, toilet water - it's all the same damn water, guy- your house is fed water from the city and it's the same source and is piped up into different areas of your house for each faucet!!!

Even if your shower, sink, etc has some kind of "filters", it is not going to make your hair look any different, lol

My own personal opinion, which I'm entitled to, thanks to the freedom the moderators here choose to give us, and is an opinion that most of you won't like- there are a very large amount of gullible and mis-informed people in this message forum. The type of people that order hair medications from 2:00AM info-mercials at night, the type that buy hair products from some miracle cure place down in China... and the type that believe their hair looks better because they used sink water to wash it.

I think the point that some are trying to make about shower heads vs. spouts is the way the hair looks afterwards. Not the difference in the water, but the delivery. My hair looks softer when I use a spout. Showers have a tendency to "rough up" the hair, while the spout has a more even water distribution. However, this could be due to the build-up as I mentioned earlier.

My recommendation: Clean your shower head regularly.
