If i'm correct, spironolactone works by binding with androgen receptors instead of inhibiting alpha-i & ii. Would it reduce sebum level in scalp - if applied topically?

There have been conflicting studies on that: some show reduced sebum in the skin from using topical spironolactone, others don't. My guess is that it mildly reduces sebum.

Bryan, do you think something like spironolactone shampoo could be effective - theoreticly? I did read one of the studies regarding topical spironolactone cream being effective but there was a thread about spironolactone shampoo and letting it sit for 5 minutes during shower, is this enough for spironolactone absorption?

If it mildly reduces sebum, then probably not that effective for hair. The reason I have spironolactone shampoo is because it is such a cheap addition. It ups the price of an 8 oz bottle by $5. And no mess, and no extra time added to the regimen. So if it helps at all, then why not try?

CCS,

The only way to really find out about spironolactone is to put it on some of your BEARD hair for about one good month, and see if it reduces its growth.

Ive tried two things previously that reduced BODY hair........revivogen, and pine oil

Now Im using somehting that is definitely reducing my beard hair............peppermint oil mixed with water at about a 1-50 or so ratio. Green tea extract had a slightly negative effect on beard hair at about 1.5 months, but not as much as the peppermint oil. I'd like to give spironolactone a whirl up there as well as revivogen to see which does best. Then I will be out of ideas.

The new cloning pics from ICX have me optomistic that everything will be moot in a few more years time. They have me psyched.
