Does This Look Like Early Hair Loss?

I'm sure this probably isn't much to be concerned about, but I wanted to make sure. I have fine (individual hair thickness) hair, but not really thin (overall density) hair, as far as I can tell. My father and his entire side of the family has male pattern baldness. My mother's side if fine. Wet 2 and Wet 3 are the ones that really throw me off.

~90% dry combed down (somewhat see scalp): http://i.imgur.com/Glaln4c.jpg

Let me know your thoughts. Thank you in advance.

You have a very small amount of recession on the corners, so I'd recommend minoxidil or finasteride (or both). In terms of the hair density, it's very hard to tell well when wet but I'd say it's def on the thin side, but it's not really noticeable, nor does that mean it will get worse, but again if you wqnt to be careful start on the other 2

I'm with jay on this one. You're in a fine place to start the finasteride/minoxidil combo. It's not noticeable yet, but you are a diffuse thinner just like I. Start early friend!

Sicron1417, you're thinning due to Male Pattern Baldness. I recommend to start Finasteride as soon as possible so your hair loss doesn't keep progressing. You've still got good hair, so please don't let the thinning get worse.

One thing I forgot to mention is that, as far as I can tell, my hair/hairline has actually always been like this.

I actually used Rogaine for about two months but stopped because I wasn't sure if I needed it. From what I've read, if I start long-term, I'll have to use it for the rest of my life. If that's the only way, so be it, but if there's a pill or something or an alternative, I'd like to hear about that too. Any recommendations?

Edit: I see that finasteride is a pill. Expensive too. Oh well.

I don't think you should use minoxidil because your hair is still in great shape...I think you should jump on finasteride which is not that expensive if you get a generic

Minoxidil is for regrowth which is the least of what you need currently...try finasteride for 6 months or so before using minoxidil

Oh, okay. That makes a lot of sense. I'll look into getting a prescription for it.

Looks like you have diffuse thinning like me. Hairline looks fine. One way to tell would be to shave your head, but growing it out again wouldn't be so fun if it was.

Wait, so, I can't go bald from that though, right?

No, you will not go bald from shaving your hair off. You go bald thanks to chemo, male pattern baldness, Telogen Effluvium, and a couple of other medical conditions. Using minoxidil will not make you go bald but you might shed a lot of hairs when you start using it.

Don't shave your head...I am 90 percent sure you are diffuse thinning...looks exactly how my hair looked when I got into college and started to really notice my hair diffusing
but nobody else noticed so don't worry about that

Why you guys reccomend him to start finasteride so early? isnt it dangerous and has lot of side effects?

Arguing over the safety of finasteride is a favorite pastime on the forums because without it you may as well accept male pattern baldness for the time being because nothing else works remotely close. Hence so many people still using it

The side effects of finasteride really aren't that bad...in most cases you have fewer erections

You might be thinning. I am definitely not a doctor, so go see a derm, probably show them the pics as well. If anything they'll probably prescribe you on finasteride to help you. Good luck.
