Hey guys, young lad here whos losing hair. Decided to get on minoxidil and guess what, it made it a lot worse.
Now i do understand that there is a shedding process and it grows after that,
but what i have noticed is that my hairline and temple has thinned and receded a lot more (main concern).
My under eyes dark circle also gotten really bad (another concern). My crown has thinned a lot.
And from what i heard, minoxidil resets the cycle for hair growth and sets all the hair to grow at the same rate, kinda giving an illusion for thicker hair.
Anyway, i heard stories that sometimes minoxidil just worsen the hair and keep on worsening it with little growth. I also of course heard majority of success story.
But I am 18 and just scared. The main reason i m getting off minoxidil is what it done to my hairline and temple. It thin and receded it considerably. I feel like i just worsen my balding process (lol the irony).
I did something stupid, i should have not used it on my hairline straight away and just only used it on my crown to see how well i response to minoxidil. Not using finasteride so there isn't that backbone support of stopping dht on attacking my thinning hair.

Well my question is, that the hair i lost to minoxidil, the shedding process, would i grow it back if i stop using it.

I used minoxidil for, 3 months. Mostly its once a day, and sometimes even miss a day. (college days, exams, busy). Quite rarely i decide to do twice a day. I also bought liquid minoxidil month ago (bought foam minoxidil 3 months ago) and kinda use it sometimes in place of foam minoxidil. So as u can guess, i am kinda inconsistent with the routine.
You think this may be the reason i responded like this to minoxidil. I also have long hair, so its hard to apply minoxidil on scalp (one of the reason i bought liquid foam, to see if application is easier). And i can see the thinning on my long hair, imagine how will it look if i decided to get a hair cut. Horrific.

My minoxidil is nearly finishing, so when it finishes, i will stop using it. I would give finasteride a try in the future (Months later).
Anyway wanted ur take on my situation. Really appreciate u taking the effort, this is important to me. Thank you very much.

I know this won't be what you want to hear, but the best answer is maybe. You're correct that Munoz resets the hair growth cycle. The reality is that if you feel like your hair has gotten worse since minoxidil and you've been on it for several months (I'd personally give it at least 6 months if not a year) then it's probably not the minoxidil making it worse - it's probably just not working and your hair is naturally falling still. I will tell you minoxidil didn't do anything for me after using it for a year. I jumped on finasteride 2 weeks ago and am kicking myself for not starting it 2 years ago when I first noticed some recession. I've gone from losing 50 hairs at a time combing my hair 2 weeks ago to losing about 4 or 5 this morning.

Are you still using minoxidil? Or dif you drop it after a year? What happened next if you dropped it?
