Does the itch ever go away?

Hello all, new here and just had a question. I've been on Propecia for about a month and using nizoral for about 6 months. Ever since starting Propecia the itch has somewhat subsided, but it's still there. My Doctor said Propecia would take care of the scalp itch completely, but so far it only turned it down a bit. Does the itch ever go away, or will it always be there as long as I have hair? Many thanks

It's a difficult question. I had the itch and as soon as I started nizoral it went away. Maybe some people are different in that way the itch comes out. Maybe you will always have it, or maybe it's just because you are shedding the hairs and that's what you are feeling??

Who knows...

I don't have scalp itch like I did for the first six months on finasteride, but I do need to work very hard to control dandruff, which was never a concern before finasteride treatment. However, I think it might be related to the inflammatory effects of the male pattern baldness process -- and those are important to keep under control. I alternate Nizoral and T-Gel, and rarely go a day without one of these; that seems to keep things okay in the scalp environment. Are you using one of those two shampoos? Nizoral really helped me through the first six months on finasteride, and its an essential (and cheap) part of a good finasteride-based regimen.

Incidentally, everyone: are there any risks associated with using nizoral 3-4 times per week AND T-Gel 3-4 times per week? (I really need frequent nizoral use to control dandruff!)
