Does Slow Hair Loss = Slow Hair Recovery?

I have been popping 1mg propecia for almost 8 months now. I am what appears to be a diffuse thinner. At first it was just the crown, now it seems my whole middle scalp is losing it - right down the middle 2 or 3 inches of my head.

So, before I 'blame' propceia for making me shed this much hair, is it possible that I am having a very long, drawn out shed before the new hair really begins growing?

my sis took a look at my crown the other day and said it looks a little fuller and that she saw 'seedlings' back there. My real concern is the overall thinness i am seeing from the very front all the way to the back...

Im pretty much asking if its working or not ... ive been giving dutasteride a lot more thought lately.

Help

re:

At eight months I would say I was less then baseline as shedding was crazy for me. It was not until about the 14 month mark that I had any stability. Everyone is different, but I would say you HAVE TO make it through twelve months before concluding anything. If you have little to no progress with finasteride then dutasteride is not going to do much better but I am partial to finasteride use.

thanks for the reply, but why do you think that dutasteride wouldnt help if finasteride doesnt do the job?

dutasteride is a more capable DHT blocker ... explain your logic...

thanks

The thinning down the center happened to me also and it was male pattern baldness getting more aggressive. It all happened so fast. I am really down in the dumps because of this also. Before this happened I was in bad shape in the frontal area but then BAM. All in the course of a month. I am still in shock at how fast this has happened. I am at month 4 on propecia and nizoral. Nothing to show for it so far but I am in it until I lose all of the front and am forced to shave/buzz it. Actually I am well behind baseline now. I feel your pain.
