Does Rogaine cause your hair quality to deteriorate?

I've been on Rogaine for just over 7 months. Finpecia + 1% nizoral for just over 4 months. I think I've had some success on my crown and getting some coverage around the front, but I feel like my overall hair quality has almost gotten worse. Like before I could run my hands through my hair and feel my fringe was noticeably thinner than the middle of my head(between the crown and fringe) now after 7 months of Rogaine it feels as if this middle section is wisp thin. When I'm applying Rogaine now, or showering and my hair gets all wet, it's an absolute war zone up there.

This thinness does coincide with starting Finpecia, so could it be possible that I'm experiencing a shed from that? Since I started any treatment I haven't really noted a shedding period, just the same few hairs that fall out regardless.

I can't speak to the science, but my own experience is that my hair has a sort of dry and brittle feel with minoxidil. When I go off it for a bit of time, my hair becomes a bit smoother and easier to move my fingers through. The problem is that that comes along with that dreaded oiliness, which brings a lot of falling hairs along with it. I'd rather have dry/brittle/lackluster hair than falling hair.

I've been using it near 2.5 years now. And I've had no problems. No reasons to stop or sides really. I never even shedded at all starting. For all those new posters asking about the "dreaded minoxidil shed"!

Yes, when it's in my hair I don't have to use any gel or wax. The minoxidil holds it in place, and that's one thing I like about it. However my issue now is just how thin it feels naturally, like after a shower before I put any Rogaine foam in. Perhaps it's just a shed caused by the Finpecia as up until that point(bar a bit of a hit on my hairline) I hadn't noticed any difference in the texture of my hair. Thanks for your input guys.
