Hi guys,

I have been using Rogaine 5% for the past two weeks and have noticed a gain of 5 lbs. I am worried whether this is a side effect though I can't swear on it either. I called up Rogaine help line and they say that the weight gain warning they have put is only because minoxidil, if taken in the pill form has this side effect. So will the topical use also cause a weight gain? Should I wait another two more weeks to see if I will continue gaining more weight before I stop its use?

I am starting to lose hair and was really hoping to stop it using this medicine but now if I am gaining weight, I would rather just lose hair cause at the end I dont want looking overweight and bald

I need your advice guys, help!!!!!

A short answer would probably be 'no'. Maybe it could if you tried to drink it, but it would be a minor problem then compared to the other problems you'd get.

You are applying a very weak solution on a small area. Your gain in weight should not have anything to do with it.

I'm on my third month of Regaine/Rogaine minoxidil and I've been gaining weight also, but I think this is largely due to my eating habit and (lazy) lifestyle.

I think the solution to this would be to go to the Gym :)
