im an 18 year old with diffuse thinning along my scalp but no bald patch or receding temples. my dad is 48 and still has a full head of hair. my mother and grandma both have some form of androgenetic alopecia. they have hair all over, but its extremely thin and diffuse so you can see right through to their scalp from any angle.

im pretty sure i have inherited this, and theres no "shedding" but hair on my scalp is slowly getting thinner and more visible. is this kind of hairloss caused by DHT as well? i have alot of body hair. will propecia help me to at least maintain the hair i have before i get as bad as my mom?

I dont know if there is a definitive answer to this. If the hair loss is from male pattern baldness then it should help in theory, but if the hair loss is from other causes then it would not. If you have no idea the best bet is see a dermatologist that has experience in hair loss to see what they say since they are the expert and might be able to figure out if its something else.
