Does Minoxidil spread when it's absorbed?

I don't rub in my liquid minoxidil becase most of it ends up on my fingers and hair shafts that way, I just apply tons of tiny drops all over my scalp. I'm hoping that minoxidil is absorbed like water onto paper, and basically it spreads out and covers more area of the scalp as it's absorbed. Am I correct, or should I actually spread minoxidil around with my fingers so I can confirm that every inch of my scalp is covered?

I apply it to my crown and new hairs appear on my hairline. So I guess yep.
