Does Minoxidil Ever Make Hair Loss Worse?

Hi,

I've been taking finasteride for 5 years. Two months ago, I also started taking dutasteride. As of yet, I haven't regained a single hair.

I'm looking to add Minoxidil also, but I've heard a few horror stories about it making hair loss worse. I'm wondering whether or not this is true: can Minoxidil actually lead to increased hair loss, or is the loss simply a result of the original condition continuing to progress?

I've been on minoxidil foam for about 7 weeks now. No shed no difference yet. I also roll it in with a 0.5mm roller. I'm a bit sceptical about using it and haven't heard of anyone having any real success with minoxidil. I do haVe some minoxidil with topical finasteride on order. Kind of scared to try it

I agree, but I'm low on options. The finasteride & dutasteride might help with maintaining hair (fingers crossed), but sadly I don't see them ever restoring any of the miniaturised hairs to full health.

Minoxidilmax makes minoxidil and finasteride with azalaic acid solutions. They also sell just the liquid that you can apply by itself

I've heard it's not a good idea to roll in minoxidil. The dermaroller is a separate stimulant to activate hair follicles and collage production. Minoxidil isn't easy on collagen. Best way to think of it is as a separate growth stimulant. Don't use minoxidil prior (make sure scalp is clean) and don't use 12 to 24 hours after minoxidil. Give your scalp time to recover.

Excuse my ignorance, so you take finasteride orally and and apply azalaic acid on the scalp?

No its topical just google the company that makes it. They have studies and explanations

It's only .5 mm roller to get the minoxidil into the scalp. I think it's with the 1.5mm roller that could be more problematic when rolling it in

You're supposed to roll it over like 10 to 20 times. I go all over my scalp, but I have short hairs so that helps. However, I try to focus more on the hairline and places that look thin.
