The reason I say this is because of success statistics of people on 2% minoxidil versus people on 5% minoxidil.
People on 5% minoxidil have a 66% BETTER chance of regrowth than people on 2% minoxidil. If the simple 2x2% = 5% theory were correct, then only 50% more people would have success on 5% versus 2%.
Isn´t minoxidil 2% absorbed better and overall better for the skin? I´ve noticed that mÃnox 5% flakes more then minoxidil 2%. Also if there is regrowth after using minoxidil 2% and it stops after a year or 2 couldn´t one then switch to minoxidil 5%?

I say YES. I think that topical minoxidil solutions based on propylene glycol (like both the 2% and 5% versions of Rogaine) are essentially the same thing. After you apply them to your scalp they all end up as fairly concentrated solutions of minoxidil in PPG, so what's the difference? In my opinion, 2 1/2 mL of a 2% solution should be about as effective as 1 mL of a 5% solution.
