Does excessive use of Tylenol pm cause hair loss?

I have terrible sleeping problems and the only thing that has consistently helped me get good sleep is taking Tylenol pm for about 2 years now. My hair has definitely thinned more over that time and I know it's due to male pattern baldness but I'm wondering if taking Tylenol pm every night for two years has contributed.

I wish I could stop taking it but I'm a college student and it's important to get a good night's rest for me. I refuse to live on energy drinks haha.

Any input would help. Thanks

finfighter-If only you knew haha. Somedays when I had to get up really early the next morning I would take a couple Tylenol pms and down it with a couple glasses of gin or vodka. Not a very good idea but it got me to sleep.

Grayman-You're probably right, I've had sleeping problems since I was probably nine so I don't know what it is attributed to.

Btw, I have read that only two tylenol pm's a night won't damage your liver but you're never supposed to mix it with alcohol (it was only a couple times :/ )

I was just wondering if anyone had heard of hair loss from this but apparently it's nothing to worry about. Thanks for the feedback!

Why would you use a product with paracetamol in it as a sleep aid anyhow?
all Tylenol PM is, is paracetamol with diphenhydramine. Buy some generic diphenhydramine and you won't need to worry about liver problems with chronic paracetamol usage. (it won't make a difference to your hair though)

i been taking amitryptiline for a while for sleep. hasn't done anything to my hair either. The only med I can really believe damaging hair is probably Accutane.

Thanks man I will try that out. Is paracetamol the component that is damaging to the liver? i don't know much about it.

I will look out for that now when looking for a sleep aid. Thanks again for your advice.
