In the Proscar monograph... In a hepatotoxicity test, 40 mg/kg/day of finasteride was given orally to dogs for 28 days. Venous blood was analyzed for ALT (SGPT) and AST (SGOT). Neither transaminase was increased, illustrating that finasteride did not cause liver damage.

In the Avodart monograph... A 2-year carcinogenicity study was conducted in B6C3F1 mice at doses of 3, 35, 250, and 500 mg/kg/day for males and 3, 35, and 250 mg/kg/day for females; an increased incidence of benign hepatocellular adenomas was noted at 250 mg/kg/day (290-fold the expected clinical exposure to a 0.5 mg daily dose) in females only.

I don't know but usually chemical drugs do, as you know.
Dutasteride caused damage to my inner ear on the first pill, so it luckily didn't have time to destroy my liver cause I stopped to the first pill ofcourse. What a poison.
