As dutasteride is inhibitor of type1 AR which are thought to be regulator of sebum production? is there a relation between sebum and dutasteride?

All I know is that my scalp was oily, itchy, inflamed with excess sebum production losing huge amounts of hair before I started taking Dutasteride, every one of those issues resolved since getting on the 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor.

Yes, I'm sure Dutasteride affects sebum production. :p

It is called go to a hair loss surgeon and beg for a script...you might be able to get one from a dermatologist...online pharmacies are not super trustworthy

Are you saying taking dutasteride reduces sebum and oily hair?

I do not understand. Dutasteride is powerful medication removing important male sex hormones. Is there a better alternative than having the hormones of a female just to have hair on head?

so you have basically given into all the scaremongering surrounding DHT inhibition...I take dutasteride every night before I go to bed and I haven't had really any sex related issues

Sorry for reviving old thread, I'm quite worried about losing hair and starting to look for a way to reduce it/stop it.
I'm diffuse thinning on top and small receding on hairline(probably due to thinning on top), scalp is very oily, after washing head in the morning in the evening my hair is really oily and itchy. After reading forums and studies I think dutasteride is really suitable since finasteride might increase oilyness(definitely not reduce it) and would like not to have put topicals on my head 2 times a day..Are you still on duta? What are the results and what dose do you take?
