Does beard + body hair come with male pattern baldness?

Everyone I know who has a very receded hairline also has a good deal of body hair and can grow a full beard. Are these connected? I have heard yes and no in the past.

I ask because at 23 I can't even come close to growing a full beard (I can't even grow a mustache, were are talking maybe 20 hairs in that area) and I also have very little body hair (Maybe 30ish chest hairs spaced out).

Could it be possible I have low T? Which wouldn't that accelerate male pattern baldness since more is being converted to DHT?

no body hair on my chest or back, and my beard/stash only gets to a rough stubble even after a couple months. My good friend is the hairiest guy I know and is balding identically to myself. Dont think it matters really.

look at the asian people. they tend to have much less body hair than caucasians and yet there are still many balding/bald people there.

Well I think having a lot of body hair can make you more susceptible to balding. Excess body hair is also caused by DHT I believe.

However there are lots of very hairy guys out there with awesome hair like Alec Baldwin, Luis Figo, Gianluigi Buffon, Robin Williams (losing a bit now, but had great hair up until his 50s.)

I think there is definitely a correlation between them. One person saying he has no back hair does not mean there is not because sensitivity is still probably the most important part of this and not very well understood yet unfortunately.

Yes they are definitely related. My hair loss started when I became very hairy. Probably around 19. The only parts of my body that have no hair are my palms and feet!

I f*ckin hate it. I haven't been swimming or to the beach since!

I have no idea where this gene came from, no one on my mother's side or fathers side is extremely hairy.
Even my poor sister is too hairy for a girl, she has facial hair and body hair.

Maybe it was the food my mother ate when she was pregnant, I don't know.
It's very strange that it happened to both me and my sister but to no other relative. My mother and father are relatively hairless so they do not understand what it's like. I don't like wearing T shirts, it also makes you sweat more. My favourite seasons are actually autumn and winter because of this problem.

Worst genes ever, the only good thing is that I'm 6'2 (but lanky) and have a handsome face. You would think that with all this body hair that I would have a good beard, but that's patchy as well!
