Does Anyone Else Have This? Seems Weird

i have some unusual symptoms and I was wondering if anyone else had them, as they don't seem like a normal part of male pattern baldness. Or are they?

So my whole scalp seems like is has a white grainy texture to it. When I rub my fingers in my scalp it almost feels like really fine sand is in there. You can see it when you look at my scalp. I also have a ton of dandruff/sebum, even if I'm washing constantly or not.

Every hair that falls out has a white buildup covering the root. You can pull it off with your finger and see the root underneath. My entire head is shedding. The top worse then the rest, but even my sides and donor area are shedding. The hairs shedding from the donor area have this buildup as well. My scalp sometimes hurts, like even if I just lean my head against something I can feel it. My hair can go from super dry to super greasy. It's almost never just normal texture. Idk what's going on. I suspect it's on my beard too, cause when I grow my beard it doesn't shed, but it hurts just like my head.

Anyone have shedding that looks like this or know what it could be? I want to go on propecia, but want to be certain I actually have normal male pattern baldness before I start.

Ignore the dust on the box I was using. The strand on the left does have the buildup on the root as well, it was just hard to get it in focus.

I've been going through the same thing for years. So far I've used 1mg./day finasteride for 11 months and recently seti at up to 1.4 gms./day with zero reduction in shedding and scalp itching/irritation. I've also tried 1% and 2% keto shampoo, head & shoulders, salicytic acid, and coal tar shampoos with no results. I also tried rubbing olive oil, coconut oil, emu oil and castor oil on my scalp with no results either. But recently I started taking note of something. Whenever I get a haircut, I notice my shedding is significantly reduced for a few days. Shedding starts picking up back to usual by a week after getting a haircut. I get my hair colored so the hair stylist shampoos my hair and this is what I think is giving me a temporary reduction in shedding. When she shampoos my hair she really digs her fingertips into my scalp and it almost feels like a massage the way she washes my hair. I've tried mimicking this at home, but I think I fail to get the same results because I'm afraid of causing traction alopecia by rubbing too hard. My theory is that the way she digs into and rubs my scalp is not only invigorating to the hair follicles, but she's also physically exfoliating my scalp and removing sebum plugs, which helps to temporarily provide relief from inflammation. I'm thinking about going to the salon and getting my hair thoroughly shampooed every two weeks and see if it helps to reduce overall shedding/inflammation. I still wash my hair everyday at home, but I would like to see if the hairstylist's 'technique' will make a difference. Will keep you guys posted if I notice any positive changes.

You could.try a.mild apple cider vinegar rinse. For a few days leave in for 5 min than rinse out. See if it helps

Masaage your scalp thoroughly with any good oil .coconut ,almond or anything.masaage for atleast 5 min a day before bath.it increases blood flow to scalp and delay hairloss ,hairfall quite well.( source: personal experience)

Hm, that's scary. Sucks propecia doesn't stop the shedding. I know mine started on a particular day in late October. I'm 85% sure it was triggered by this awefull organic shampoo I used.

I found some forum ( a different one). The thread has been going for 10 years of people with similar symptoms.

Edit: do you have hypoglycemia or have you taken antibiotics? Did yours start suddenly as well? I've done some research online and it seems a lot of woman have this too.

I have no idea about hypoglycemia. Also, the last time I had to take an antibiotic was over 10 years ago. My scalp itch/irritation and shedding has been going on for years. I definitely have male pattern baldness, but now I'm suspecting there might be another factor that's causing rapid hairloss. I definitely have scalp issues though. Whether it's caused by male pattern baldness or whether it's worsening the effects of male pattern baldness is still unknown to me.
