Does Accutane (isotretinoin) Really Cause Hair Loss?

Title. I have had moderate body acne since I was a teenager; I'm starting to get really fed up with it (e.g., not feeling comfortable walking around shirtless because of it) and I am currently debating starting Accutane to combat it. I've heard mixed things about Accutane; does it really aggravate hair loss?

On a side note, I must say that finasteride did actually clear it up a little bit however it is still pretty bad/noticeable.

Yes, I can really cause hair loss. Even topical retinoids found in common over the counter moisturizers can make your hair fall out.

I took accutane when i was 18. It can really stuff some peoples bodies up. The thing with accutane is some side effects dont come out for years! Im 32yrs old. I had to have ivf 3yrs ago. Ruined my sperm count. Thing is i got a girl pregnant before i started the treatment. Fast forward 10yrs the Doctor said it wil be almost impossible to conceive naturally.

My Doctor said he wouldnt be surprised it if started my male pattern baldness off cus i started losing hair around the same time so who knows. I mean the drug was made to cure cancer so who knows what it can do to your body. Just google roaccutane permanent side effects.

Word thank you for your replies guys! I think I'll just avoid it and continue my minocycline and topical game. I tried to get on it when I was a teenager, but my dad wouldn't allow me (he's a pharmacist).

This is why you should take things on the internet with a grain of salt sometimes.

I'd say it definitely does. I don't speak from experience but a friend of mine had really bad facial acne and got on accutane, his skin cleared up well but he lost his hair FAST. I'm talking noticeably diffused NW2 at 19. I feel really bad for him because when he stopped his acne came back but his hair did not. Ruined his looks as he was actually a really good looking guy ( without the acne )
STEER CLEAR OF THAT sh*t DAVEY

If you have cystic acne, adult acne equals face craters. Moon face.

I took everything, sugar free diets, holistic approach, over th counter, prescription drugs tropicals, proactive, etc. It all failed.

I even paid thousands for a natural path doctor. Nothing changed. I decided to go on Accutane. My dermatologist is a good man but he wouldn't prescribed me it so, I decided to order online. I told him. He prescribed me it. Even opened his door pointing out his waiting room and said some are screening for cancer. That it could be worse.

I handled 4months of the 6 before giving up. Accutane made me look sun burned. Lips were mangled. Hair fell out. I got a drastic receded hair line after the drug. It's been on going ever since.

Op, YouTube psychedelic substance. The YouTuber tells his story. He trips. He's cool but he did liquid Accutane. 80-100mg. He is cueball bald. It's powerful. It trashes liver. It has made people suicidal. I went to the hospital several times from it. Bed ridden. It's a awful drug but, it stopped acne.

Unless you will be crater face or moon face, seek an alternative. Your hair will fall out by forty. If acne gives you anxiety imagine beating acne, and hair falls out. It's slow, it's painful, and it isn't like a bandaid you can pull off. You watch it in agony.

Seek other ways. Clean up diet. No sugar. Watch which foods trigger your diet. Diary is mine. Drink lots of water. If you are getting deep inflammation, hyper pigmentation, and ongoing acne, decide. Many doctors won't prescribe it but, I lost hope. Now, I have hair loss. You maybe OK but, if you have male pattern baldness genes, Accutane and steroids will flip on that switch.

Do everything before seeking this last resort. Finally, if you are heavy, lose weight. If I was lighter, I would have been given under 80mg. X 6months. I think it's 20mg ea pill. 4x a day for 30days a pop +? Is it any wonder it causes hair loss?

Psychedelic substance took like 100mg of Accutane liquid and over the net from a site that no longer exists. He killed his hair but, he trips and doesn't care. Listen to his story and other horror stories before taking it.

I am steal needing to heal up from it. Taking milk thistle and other things for my liver. My hair is unhealthy lookin since the drug but acne is handled * knock on wood *!

What do you mean by moon face? Acne scaring or facial bloating?

I'll give it a go. What length dermaroll and how often do you use it?

I've attached pics of my cheeks. I think I have naturally large pores, but there's definitely some scaring there too.

I've tried everything to beat acne and heal scaring. It's so brutal lol

I used a 1.5mm. I dont think u have much to worry about tho. As the slight redness u have can take months and months to gradually fade.

I had accutane 13yrs ago and it cleared my skin up. Im 32 now and i still have outbreaks. Accutane doesnt work forever and i would neva touch it again. I have tried every potion lotion under the sun lol. Now all i used is a aloe vera soap best thing i have ever used. If i do break out now tho use this cream on affected areas

Yeah, same with me. Literally every wash, scrub, lotion, combination, soap, routine, gel, oinkmant and antibiotic and nothing stops the outbreaks ;(

I'll have to try the aloe vera, although my skin seems to hate all bar soaps for some reason.

Do you dermaroll once a week?
