If I go to my Doctor and talk to him about my hair loss what do I need to ask him and what tests does he need to do on me to figure out what if the best plan of action for me?

Are you seeing a GP or a derm? For me, my GP ran a series of bloodwork to make sure it wasn't anything obvious and chronic.

Use a derm. to confirm Androgenetic Alopecia (if you're in doubt) and answer any specific questions you might have. Mine was incredibely useless when it came down to deciding a regimen (you'll have better luck on this board). She said that I can use propecia (warned me about the sides) or minoxidil, and that's about it. She didn't say that they complement each other, and that hair loss at the front is harder to treat than the back. Probably got me out of her office in about 5 minutes, and said it wasn't really a big deal as her husband started balding at 18.

My GP on the other hand was really cool because he just sat down with me and chatted for half an hour which is really what I needed that day. Ironically he is bald (probably ~30) although he shaves his head and pulls it off nicely (black men usually do).
