Do you regrow what you lose during a finasteride shed?

What have peoples experiences been? I know people go through pretty hefty sheds before they start seeing any good effects, but do you lose forever what you shed in the early stages of finasteride use?

'Shed', the word itself explains enough: these hairs you're losing are supposed to come back stronger. Unfortunately, reality is sometimes a bit different. I've been on propecia for nine months now and i seem to have lost a lot at the temples during this period. No sign of returning hairs here, except for a couple of tiny vellus/ terminal (i am not sure) at the left (=weakest) temple sprouting out/ still standing.
Then again, it totally depends on the person.

Supposedley, yes. And what you regrow should come in stronger and thicker. As always, there are exceptions - and you hear horror stories of hair not being replaced. Unfortunately - you don't sound like an early positive responder - which means you have to hang tough until the 1 year mark before giving up.

Sheds (should) also mean that the treatment is working for you.
