Do You Need A Monthly Prescription For Finasteride?

Or do you just need it (the written prescription) once and then it automatically refills? I can't buy it over the counter apparently, I can do the referral once but cannot imagine having to pay to go to a hair loss specialist every month to get a refill. The issue being that one needs to stay on Finasteride consistently, so I can't just skip a month if it gets too inconvenient.

You should be able to get a year's prescription from your General Physician instead of a hair loss specialist.
