Does it look like these are hairs that just never really grew in fully? or is it just recession? i honestly can’t tell. seeing a dermatologist on the 21st.

My hair on my temples is like that. I think it might be that u scrub ur head to hard after u shower. The hair on ur hairline is the weakest part of ur hair. But mines been like that forever, might just be ur hairline.

Those are called Temple points, and you are losing them. One of the first signs of hair loss.

Starting to think it’s been like this since a long time now.

When you factor in the other photo... It could be possible it’s been like that since 2016 and at different lengths it looks worse or better.

Your other side looks fine to me...

Paying such close attention to the temples is pointless. They've clearly receeded a tiny bit and haven't changed in the last few years. Even men who don't lose their hair usually recede a bit on their temples. Just look at Karl Urban, Fred Ward, Clayton Cardenas, Jake Gyllenhaal, Rami Malek, Ron Perlman, etc.

I wouldn't even call that a mature hairline. It's just a tiny bit of temple recession which is normal.
