I used to always brush my hair when it was 3-4 inches long. I hand a part on one side, and brushed to the other side, the old style hair cut. I don't even remember which side the part was on.

But ever since getting a fade cut, that is at most 2 inches on top when I really need a hair cut bad, I don't brush my hair any more. Sure, it sometimes gets the messed up look. But I just don't think it needs to be brushed, even if I go to a job interview.

Is this normal not to brush short hair? What do you guys do?

Nope haven't brushed my hair in a year. Even when I had shoulder-length hair, I would hardly ever brush my hair.

I used to brush all the time as a kid. I could not go out if I did not brush. But I have not brushed in a long time now, and no one seems to care. I think cultures have changed or something. The wild look is more accepted, at least with shorter styles. Shoulder length too.

+1

I can't remember the last time I used a brush or a comb... I don't think I used a brush in my adult life.

I updated the poll twice after people voted, so anyone want to update your vote go for it. If you shave your head, or it is 1/4 inch long, obviously you don't need to brush it. I'm currious about the guys who have it 3/4 inch to 2 inches, who can get a bit of the messed up look. I want to know if they brush their hair. And if you gel it, and it is a very ordered gel, say yes, but if it is gelled into a random more wild look, say no.

My hair is over two inches long and gets brushed daily, just not by me: one has servants for this kind of thing. The only occasion on which I handle a hairbrush is when the domestics require an attitude adjustment.

Edited for spelling.

If it's less than 3 inches or so, I never do. I also didn't wash the top or front much. Makes the hair a lot more pliable.

Aren't those extremely bad for hair?

I have a friend who works at high end hair salon's and rants about them.

I don't use them all the time, but even when I do I don't see how they damage hair, you are only putting the plates on the hair itself not the roots so I can't correlate a problem.
