we _may_ still need 5a-reductase. That enzyme does more than just convert T into DHT.

Bryan

Like what? I hadn't heard that...

It converts progesterone into dihydroprogesterone (DHP), and performs similar operations on other steroids and neurohormones.

At one point, men had lots of hair all over our body for warmth. Now we have hair of other animals for warmth.

Lets face it, we don't need hair. we have hats

So, should we conclude that we don't want to suppress all the 5a reductase, just enough to give our hairs the chance to recover?

do we need DHT for other normal skin functions? such as skin keratization? or shedding? and once we stop taking propecia will our bodies start making the same amount of DHT as before?

Yes. Like Bryan said, we need it. Maybe not so much of it, or maybe not so much of the ability to utilize it!
