do some people just have thinner hair?

i don't necessarily just mean the hairs themselves i mean the overall density...my mother and sister have always had pretty thin hair and they shed alot...i have had diffuse thinning since i was 16 (almost 18 now) my hair is probably the same density as theirs so sometimes i wonder if losing some hair and having thinner hair just runs in the family

Some people have lots of hair, some don't.

I guess the difficult thing is knowing whether someone's thin hair is just them or whether it's hair loss.
