Do Short Hair Systems Exist? Are They Detectable?

When I had hair I kept it similar to this and was wondering how short can a system be? Are short hair systems more detectable? Are they even available? I'm so depressed from being bald. It seems so many things are off limits due to our PC culture except bald jokes. People just kept telling me to shave it and "own it" so I did but I'll never feel comfortable with this look. A shaved head makes me look extremely aggressive. I don't even recognize myself. I have become a real life hermit and tired of it. I don't want to go broke paying for fake hair but there has to be some affordable options out there? Every time I'm forced to take my hat off people make such a big deal of it, especially family. I've been called Kojak, Steve Wilkos and Uncle Fester. I'll be 37 years old in July and thought that by this age I would be cool with it but I'm not. The BS jokes NEVER stop.

You can get very short hair systems - William Shatner's current unit is a good example, and Dan Abrams wears his system pretty short - but they do take more work. They have to be a good fit and to be perfectly positioned, and any little flaw, like a wrinkle in the attachment or a bit of shedding on the piece, will be apparent. Also you have to have very regular haircuts, as your natural hair grows out but the piece hair doesn't.

If you want to go for this style, I would suggest you opt for a thinskin base and ask for it to be ventilated forward into a short Caesar cut, in which the hair hugs your head. I have seen a few guys who have done that and it works well without too much drama.
