Do I Have Telogen Effluvium Or male pattern baldness?

Hello! I'm pretty new to the forums but I have been browsing for a couple of days now to see if I could find a answer to my question. Now, I understand many people go through denial and feel that they do not have male patter baldness but instead feel it is due to stress, diet, or environment. About four days ago I got really conscientious about my hair after hearing my seventeen year old friend is starting to lose his hair. I'm nineteen years old and have thick curly hair which comes from my moms side of the family. Her family has no real history of baldness, however my dad's side does. A few days ago I pulled back my hair and noticed thinning on my left temple and left temporal point. I also noticed that on the top left hand side of my scalp I had some thinning but nothing too drastic. I was experiencing a little bit of shedding a couple of month back while I was taking antibiotics for my acne. After I stopped the medication, the shedding stopped and has not come back. I have no thinning on the crown, my neck, or the right side of my head and I am not experiencing any itchiness on the scalp. I was not sure if this thinning was due to the antibiotics, which i have read can cause temporary thinning, or a case of male pattern baldness.

Thanks again!

Here are some pictures. The first image shows the left side of my head, the temporal point thinning, the second shows the right side which seems the same, then the top of my forehead, then the top left side of my head which I noticed has thinned out a bit. I've been under stress lately and on top of that and the medication I was taking, I have not been keeping up a healthy diet. I would like to see others think it could be though. As I stated earlier I have had no shedding or itchy scalp since I stopped taking the medication and I am not thinning anywhere else.

Thanks again!

By the way, the thinning on the top left of the scalp isn't that noticeable unless I move it like I did

I know this is not what you want to hear but 99.8% of the time it's regular balding. Telogen effluvium usually means your hair is patchy ALL AROUND the scalp. But I am not a doctor, go see one and get a real diagnosis.

Alright, so you think I have male pattern baldness?
I think so yes, however I am no expert as I said it's just that telogen effluvium is pretty rare. Do you have thinning all over the scalp? That means crown, hairline, back of head, sides of head etc. If your thinning is only in the hairline and or crown (top of head) then it's probably male pattern baldness.

Now that I'm going over my right side, it feels a little thin in one area, however you can't see through it since I haven't gotten a haircut in a little over two months. No thinning on the crown area though and no shedding as well. I read that telogen effluvium is pretty common though, is that true?

Well like I said either see a real doctor. Or just wait 1 year, if it's telogen effluvium your hair would already been back to normal if it's the same or worse it's male pattern baldness.
