Do I have Telogen Effluvium along with male pattern baldness?

I have a receding hair line in Norwood 2.5 and my dermatologist diagnosed it as classic male pattern baldness.I used finasteride for a month and stopped it as it causes scalp inflammation.Started minoxidil s week back.Now I noticed some thing which I have not really paying attention the sides and the temple points.They have become unusually thin.Compared photos of last year and I had good temple points and the hair on the side burns was growing and curling back on the metal frame of the glasses . I still have a lot of small hair in that region .Freaking out ! .Could it be some thing else along with male pattern baldness?

Either Telogen Effluvium, Retrograde Alopecia, or DUPA. Most likely just Retrograde Alopecia. It's fairly common in men.

Hi bobby, I have thinning exactly in these areas and it's called retrograde alopecia(thinning around the ears and nape). You should look at male members of your family they will have it too.

None that I know of.My father is NW2 with slight thinning temples.My uncle is a strong NW2. My grand father kept his hair for most of his life ,but diffused later on.Could this be chronic Telogen Effluvium ?I am under constant stress for almost 3 years now ,sleep like 4 hours a day.Taking sleeping tablets to treat insomnia and get some sleep.

I was told I have DUPA, that I'm thinning even in the donor area. Could this be from the kertain straightening treatment called Brazilan Blowout?

Anyway, is there any different treatment for DUPA and Telogen Effluvium?

Telogen Effluvium is temporary loss while DUPA is permanent loss. Scientists don't believe DUPA is caused by androgens. In fact, they don't even know what causes it. If you truly do have DUPA, you are most likely destined for complete baldness. There's no treatment for DUPA either because no one knows what causes it. Some speculate it's caused by early onset senile alopecia. The only real cure would be stem cell hair regeneration harvested from a tiny patch of permanent hair just below the crown. You may also have a mixture of DUPA and male pattern baldness.

Its exactly what I am going through , but my back is a bit letter and not diffused .Its still thick .The sides are vanishing quickly though.My major concern is the receding hair line as it is more noticeable now .A year back I was a solid NW2 and never cared about how my hair looked .Now I have to style it in such a way that I have to cover my temples .This is really depressing ...What treatments are you on?
