Remember that Follica is around since 2005, that's almost 12 years now. They have initiated several clinical trials which were based on the wounding aspect alone. Then they also did wounding + lithium gluconate 8% and it failed.
The conclusion to this is very simple. Wounding on itself simply wasn't good enough. If it was good enough, any company would proceed to launch it to the market as soon as possible.
This industry is logical and straightforward. If something holds good promise they flaunt with the results and rapidly try to release the drug/treatment to the market. They will make extreme noise. I see it all the time.
Can Follica create new hair follicles? Well there is no hard evidence for that at the moment. Remember that we need proper healthy hair follicles on our scalp, not on our body, and we don't need shitty vellus hair either.
Well they actually DO have evidence by the way, but they didn't publish it...
Apparently the document is from 2008 which can deliver the proof of the creation of new hair follicles. Well it's almost 2017, 9 years later. Come on..
And they absolutely seem to love to refer to that third party published research study from Mumbai;
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3746236/
Which used minoxidil + microneedling.
"Yo guys we can supposedly create new hair follicles, we ain't publishing that evidence though, let's just constantly refer to this Mumbai study"
LOL. I literally don't know if I need to cry or laugh.
Ohw yeah and wasn't Follica supposed to initiate a registration study already?
"Follica plans to initiate a registration study in the second half of 2016, with data read-out in 2017."
Typical
.
Follica will simply be probably relying on the "success" of minoxidil.
Follica’s three clinical studies of patients with androgenetic alopecia demonstrated hair follicle neogenesis via biopsy following skin disruption and/or hair growth through target area hair count. One of these studies demonstrated that skin disruption alone was safe and generates new follicles as well as new hair, but did not achieve its primary endpoint as the chosen investigational compound (lithium gluconate 8 percent gel) did not further enhance the effect
