Dilemma....

Hi

I'm in my mid 30's and my hair loss started when I was 30. Have been using Rogaine but find that it's not helping to control the hair loss much nowadays. Now I see a lot of shedding especially when I shampoo my hair, about 50-70 hairs fall out each time. My family has a history of male pattern baldness with most of my uncles already almost bald by the time they reach their 40's.

You might ask why I do not want to start finasteride.....well I'm in a bit of a dilemma as I read about the side effects it can cause. It's not the sexual side effects but rather I have high ldl cholseterol (bad cholesterol - it runs in the family) and I have read that finasteride does affect the liver as the chemical gets metabolized in the liver. Some reports even say that some users experience higher levels of cholesterol. And I know that high cholesterol can lead to heart diseases and strokes.

Can someone with similar experience or with some good advice please share me a thought?

I want to keep my hair desperately but not at a risk of getting a heart attack or stroke??? I feeling so depressed already thinking about this :lost:

Hi Propeciajunkie

You're saying that the reports citing propecia leads to higher cholesterol are not true?

Or are you telling others not to buy propecia?
