okay, i am a diffused thinner 6 years and counting. still looks okay when hair is shaved short. I've been taking finasteride for 8 months. my question for you guys is how many hairs a day are norwood patterns loosing a day, and is it just in the areas? Diffused thinners: how long did it take really notice it? Who has a better chance with finasteride???? thank you!!!!

How long did it take to notice it? Maybe 6 months for me? I've been worried about diffuse thinning ever since I turned 17 pretty much, and my hairline (while always mature) started to slowly but surely recede @ age 16. Ever since that initial recession, I've been noticing my hair slowly waning (while nobody else has). However, I've always been very VERY conscious of my hair, simply BECAUSE of the mature hairline. There's pictures of me in Grade 9 and 10 already losing my hairline. I mean, some of you guys post pictures of the hair at your temples turning into baby hairs, etc., but pictures like that were all over my yearbook in my freshman and sophomore years of highschool.

So basically, I'm a norwood 1.5-2 maybe (probably 2), and I lose what looks like 30-50 a day (just showered, saw 3 on my hands, styled with harsh gel before that which would pick up some hair, saw none). It's not just in the hairline areas. As to who has a better chance with finasteride? Who knows, I won't go on the stuff yet, not ready for that hyper-hypo-androgenetic-psycho-reflex garbage just yet. Plus, I kinda like getting boners.

Hope SOME of this helps!

You cant count hairs,. its meaningless. A guy with a really thick head of hair and no male pattern baldness could easily be losing way more hairs then someone whos thinning.

All that matters is the diameter of the hairs.

And it doesnt matter if diffusers or receeders have a better chance,. this isnt a competition. Ok, I know, you want to know if being a diffuser increases or decreases your odds of success. There is no data on that, but many diffusers report success.

So lemme get this straight: it's all about the diameter of the hair, and not the actual NUMBER of hairs? Cuz I could swear I'm actually MISSING some hairs entirely, but is this just because they've become so small? When my hair's gelled up and I CLOSELY inspect for each individual hair (tedious and crazy, I know) it looks pretty okay in terms of actual density, but they seem to be finer than, for instance, the sides of my head.

Personally, I don't think the sides and back of my head have MUCH more hair than the top, so I'm just shooting to match density with the back. Is it true that the top of your head SHOULD be denser than the back? I can see the sides being thinner, that's always been the case, but how about the back? For quite a while now, the back of my head's been winning in thickness (which is part of how I know I'm thinning)

Thanks

Hi there, for what it's worth I'm a diffuser. I still have my hairline intact though what I can't understand is I never see hairs anywhere, pillow, shower, etc. I don't know where they're going, but they're going.
