does anyone have any experience or know if using a dermaroller/pen can regrow hair in those who are losing hair uniformly throughout the entire scalp (back and sides included)?

this type of hair loss is not typically associated with male pattern baldness, so anti androgens such as finasteride typically don't seem to work (it didn't in my case). are min+rolling the only hope or am i screwed?

thanks.

I can't see why it wouldn't. It seems that microneedling is the best hair stimulation at the time being. How long were you on finasteride? And what do you mean that it didn't work? Did it not regrow hair or did the hair loss get worse?

Interesting. Perhaps it’s an auto immune illness?
There’s a protocol for auto immune disorders where you basically dose Vitamin D, from Dr.Coimbra.
You could add that to needling

I have thinning on the back and sides, this is often from high TSH ( an inflammatory marker they check for thyroid issues)
You could get that tested and try curcumin daily to reduce the inflammation if that’s the issue

thanks for the quick reply.

i was on propecia for roughly a year, 1 tab per day and experienced no change in shedding throughout the entire treatment. i don't have the typical temple recession associated with male pattern baldness. i suspect inflammation/seb derm, or some sort of auto immune disorder might be the culprit. my full thyroid panel came back looking normal even though i had/still have many of the symptoms suggesting hypothyroidism.

yeah, my vitamin d levels were on the low side (30ng/ml). i started supplementing with 8-10k IU per day, but about 4 months in i haven't noticed any differences in my hair quality.

TSH was at 1.86 fwiw

i used it alongside finasteride years ago but it made my hair super dry so i discontinued it. at the time, i didn't notice any signs of scalp inflammation. i ended up ditching all hair products, including shampoo. after a few years on no-poo, i started getting bouts of itchy scalp and dandruff which are always exacerbated in the winter time. to this day i only wash my hair with water since i can't stand the way nizoral makes my hair feel, and the inflammation/flaking is more or less tolerable. i'm not sure that that's the reason my hair's falling out since i've been slowly losing it long before i started noticing any signs of inflammation. i'm thinking of just biting the bullet and buzzing my hair so i can start treating the inflammation, which is something i should do anyway before starting needling.

Have you tested your testoterone, estrogen, free test, dht yet?
Estrogen especially if it's not between 18-30 can activate autoimmune disease.

I have an allergy to nizoral plus the hair dry thing. I've never noticed an issue with Suave naturals coconut, it's a hydrating shampoo it's good. I use it once every 3 days or so

I don't think a single person has listened to me, but all my hairloss AA, barbae, Androgenetic Alopecia has been caused only by out of range estrogen causing inflammation (not only estrogen but sometimes estrogen was the sole cause for months at end)

yeah, i'm taking thorne's vit d+k2.

my test is 750, free test 14, both within range. have not tested for dht or estrogen, which i'll look into doing.

really appreciate the quick responses :)
You might try magnesium oil next. Magnesium is responsible for a ton of enzymes and other functions, and 80% of Americans are deficient. It's also part of calcium metabolism like K and D.

No problem. Eager to find solutions. Once we know your estrogen we can have a better picture
