Hi all! 34 year old male here. Have been on 1mg Finasteride for a few years now (but didn’t really start to regularly take it until the last couple of years due to finances etc) Thought it was working but I’ve recently noticed increased thinning around my crown, especially at the front half. Ive been fairly stressed recently so not sure if that would be related or not, another reason could be my genetics have just caught up with me. I’m also in the gym quite regularly and have been intermittent fasting - wondering if that, combined with stress, could be causing the diffuse thinning I seem to be experiencing. Seems like it almost came out of nowhere. My dermatologist suggested a couple things - Rogaine and Anaphase shampoo, but didn’t seem all that concerned. It’s made me super self conscious though and am wondering if I should go back and look into some blood tests as well - I’ve heard intermittent fasting can cause drops in certain nutrients, etc which can trigger hair loss. My derm also suggested PRP treatments, which I had actually never heard of. I haven’t found much info on it - does anyone have any experience with it? Also was reading up on dermarolling or stamping.

Any and all suggestions/insights welcome :)

Rogaine is a good idea, but you have to commit to doing it every single day once or twice daily. You could also add dermarolling. Anaphase shampoo won’t do anything, don’t bother.

The evidence behind prp is poor. One study showed an increase in individual hair thickness with no change in hair counts... hardly worth the thousands of dollars it will cost

Avodart is another option... it has some serious side effects though such as increased incidence of diabetes, higher incidence of sexual side effects and the unknown consequences of long term type 1 5ar inhibition.
