I’ve been taking finasteride for the past year and a half and my hair hasn’t changed much since I started. Does it look like I have male pattern baldness, or something fungal/non genetic?

My hair right out of the shower/bed (first four pics)

After obsessively grooming it to cover up my thin areas (last 5) - can take up to an hour because seeing even the slightest bit of visible scalp freaks me out. I’ve been late to school/work so many times to count because of this sh*t; I’d give anything to be able to just shower, get dressed, pick my hair hair out for a few seconds and leave the house

I’m one of those people that needs hair to look even remotely presentable. Growing my hair out basically killed my 5 year long dry spell

It's not male pattern baldness b/c male pattern baldness does not happen on the sides of the head - you might have AA or something else - I would suggest stopping finasteride b/c it's not worth taking even if you did have male pattern baldness

I’ve had no harmful side effects and would prefer most of them to being bald and the social stigma/aesthetic loss that comes along with it. The only thing I feared going into the treatment was potentially accelerating my hair loss

There’s nothing wrong with your hair. Maybe see a therapist about anxiety.

any pic with your hairline visible? i'm aware of DUPA, its not scientifically backed up, what i believe is, DHT first affects temples. i think its normal hairline you have. We are old age people when it comes to male hair loss. There is no technology that make your hair strong against DHT like a normal man without Androgenetic Alopecia, instead we are blocking DHT. Man without Androgenetic Alopecia also experience mature hairline after he starts producing DHT(puberty) for 6+ years.

i browsed top hair clinic in my city and read its negative reviews who claims that they were prescribed finasteride and after months hairloss becoming worst. Finasteride and minoxidil is making them famous in cities. But they are doing their best, 99% of men have Androgenetic Alopecia problem only.

If you are financially ok, then go to top 2 hair clinics and top 2 hospitals in cities. get your hormones tested. especially Thyroid and testosterone. DHT is not necessary.

Me too suffering from diffuse hairloss with normal hairline. But difference b/w you & me is, im thinning diffuse 50% loss at top area, 33% loss at sides and about 15-20% loss at back which i think has to deal with Telogen Effluvium and endocrine because it happened after my lifestyle has changed. 12+ hours front of PC, no social life, less sleep, etc. And what about your lifestyle when it started thinning?

hair loss for me has stopped, but no growth. if someone notices even after few months, i will give finasteride a try.

along with your treatment, add these for next 3 months:
1. search "multi vitamin for hair" which must have biotin 5-10mg(5k-10k mcg), zinc 8-12mg, vit D(normal multivitamin tablets dont have this much biotin)
2. stop egg white for 3 months (as it contain avadin)
2. & take omega 3 tabs 3 times/day
3. whey protein if possible(good androgen balance)
4. start weight exercise and sprint (run(or at one place) fast possible speed for 10-15 second and wait till heart cool downs)
(because long time cardio increase cortisol which is ok for other but not ok for you at this time.)
5. nofap for 3 months
(theres no proof for this, but who tried nofap for hairloss, 90% of them got good result. very low claims "it not worked for me" which i believe they have Androgenetic Alopecia. and who tried it for good mind and health also stated about healthy hair they got. anyway, i still not believe it.
6. 8 hour sleep, good social life, talk with new girls every one or two days(scientifically backedup ;) )

This must balance all your hormones including androgens.(its just a lifestyle change with your treatment)
