Guys, this maybe a dumb question but what is 'diffuse hair loss'? Is it gradual thinning of of hair from top? I first experienced hair loss at 21. I just turned 24 last week and have been using Rogain 2% for a month. I have gone through on bottle so far. To give you an idea of how my hair look like now, i posted a pic.

From judging my pic, what do you think is the best root for me to treat my hair loss?

its quite hard to say unless u can post pics of your front and side temples.

From this pic it could be either male pattern baldness or Telogen Effluvium.....cant say fro sure unless the make the other pics mentioned above available...and slo a detailed description of yr hair loss history....

chewbaca is right. but if you are using rogain, u should definitely use the 5%. its much more effective than the 2%.

re

I'm in Canada and 5% can only be obtained by prescription and my family doctor is a jerk. he wouldn't prescribe me anything.

BTW here is my frontal and side hair view. This should help give you guys good idea how bad my hair loss is (sorry i gotta shaddy camera...it sucks! Never buy Samsung digital cameras...)

I'm bit skeptical getting on Propecia/finasteride.
1) It's expensive
2) It takes time to see result (up to 12 months) and spending $2000 in 12 months worth it?
3) Side effects maybe but i am too worried about it because they go when you stop using as i've read on this forum.

Now, from your experience you guys can guide/advice me on what i can do. For now i am using and have been using it for last 4-5 weeks:

1) Rogain 2% (once a day before goint o bed)
2) Nizrol Anti-dandruff Shampoo (3 times a week with my regular shampoo)

Its easy to obtain the 5% on the internet. Thre are various sites that sell this at a very low price.

But I checked all the online Canadian Pharmacy sites and they don't sell 5% online. If I buy this from a US site, i know it will be confiscated by the customs on the border.

You can get on Finpecia, a genereic form of propecia. Its a fraction of the cost of propecia and you could get a years suppy for below $150. I think you are a perfect candidate for propecia or some other form of anti-DHT measure.

You don't need prescription for Finpecia? It has same effects as Propecia? Can you provide me some links where I can purchase it?

Google search gave this:

You're right striker, diffuse thinning can be described as gradual thinning from the top; at least, that's how it's described on the boards. Diffuse thinning for some people can mean thinning in absolutely every area of the scalp, but when people speak of Male Pattern Baldness diffuse thinning, they are usually just referring to the hair on the top getting progressively thinner.

Go to any doctor and ask for a proscar perscription. I'm in canada as well and it only costs me about $11 a month for the stuff. I wouldn't worry about side effects either as most people don't have any major problems with it. I say get 2.5 months worth at first to test it out. If you don't have any side effects after that then stick with it.[/b]

Thanks nervx. only $11 a month? wow! that's cheap! I would go to my family doctor but he is a jerk. Can i get the prescription from a walk clinic doctor? I'm assuming I can buy 2.5 worth of this proscar at a local drugmart? Also what is the difference between the Propecia, proscar and finasteride? Are those all the same drugs but different brand names?
