DHT causes beard and body hair to grow but it causes scalp hair to fall out in certain people.
The skin where the beard grows is much looser than the skin on the hair bearing regions of scalp. Waste products that might cause pro-oxidant damage to the dermal layers and hair follicles are flushed away by lymphatic, circulatory, and other means. The top of the scalp where hairloss occurs has no muscle movement to speak of - and flushing away oxidant/androgenic byproducts is more difficult there.
Where there is a high density of hair growth the skin has a slightly greyish color. Some people even have this greyish shadow on their face, where the beard growth is exceptionally thick on the 5oclock shadow regions.
Excessive buildup of DHT and other chemicals in the scalp must be associated with the production of free radicals, which causes an immune response and the dreaded baldness... The byproducts of DHT buildup must cause the immune attack? :freaked: :freaked: :freaked:
A suppressed immune system, e.g. cyclosporine, etc. often causes hair regrowth though.
Returning the scalp skin to its more youthful elastic condition with the restoration of the fat layer and health of the hypodermis, might help to initiate hair regrowth and increase hair density.
