Desperate times mean desperate measures

After looking at my hair this morning and realising it's been a terrible slide since I quit the minoxidil 3/4 months ago- I've decided I have no choice but to get back on minoxidil.

It was probably a mistake coming off minoxidil in the 1st place. I do regret stopping it because the shed I have had since stopping it has been terrible to say the least, as you've noticed. I've been like a horrible example of what stopping minoxidil does to a person s hair.

I started it the same time as I started Propecia but 4 months later I came off it. It was mainly due to it being hard to apply and be seen in public - making my hair 10x worse etc. 4 months after stopping it, the shed has been devastating. I feel I have no choice but to get back on it and grin and bare it for the next X amount of years.

I luckily kept 1 bottle under my bed incase I needed to use it once again.

My question is - can a person see results, if they used it for so many months, then came off it for about 4 months and in that time, the minoxidil reliant hairs have shed a lot leaving the persons hair looking awful and very thin (Like mine).

Would it be effective second time round? or is it some how less effective if a person keeps stopping and starting?

Honest opinions are welcome.

Thanks.

Hi Gunner!

I think you have made right decision to start with minoxidil again because this is the key for regrowing hair.

I was in very bad condition as I started with minoxidil about 6months ago and my contemporary situation is completly different. I am growing back my hair which I have not seen lets say for about 5years or so. Honestly I did not expect such effect!

I will see what makes finasteride with my situation when it starts to work in few months but the fact is that minoxidil definitely works for me!

I dont know how bad for you regrowing process the starting and then stopping minoxidil was but on the paper I have got in my minoxidil package is written that forgetting the dose means decreasing the effect.

I think that sticking with minoxidil and take it twice a day is the only way for us who want to regrow hair. I have heard that some people get off the minoxidil for a while just not to have the tolerance to it.

Sometimes it is also recommended to decrease the dosage after some time just for maintanance. But I would consult these possibilities with my doctor as I am not shure about it.

Is there somebody here who decreased minoxidil dosage after some time of using just to maitaing gained hair with goods results??

Thankx for reply.

yes you can regain much of what you lost if you go back on minoxidil since the follicles havent been dormant long enough to totally stop producing hair.

I would use 5% 2x/day for at least a year then go back to 1x/day to maintain.

I find minoxidil actually makes my hair look THICKER and I apply it to my whole head. IF you are careful with the droppper and make "cornrows" directly on your scalp, it actually can add body.

i use kirklands 5% only 19.99 for a 4months supply :)

Once again, wipe off the sides of the dropper and your hairwill look fine. Most of the crap comes of the sides and sticks to your hair unless you wipe the dropper off after you fill it.
