Just started dermarolling for the first time and minoxidil again (for the third time) 4 days ago. I've been using nizoral and taking biotin supplement consistently for a long period of time now with no noticable effects. I'm at Norwood 4 currently with diffuse thinning and hoping I can get to something like Norwood 1/2 by adding dermarolling and minoxidil again to routine. Has anyone else here had that kind of success? I've seen some amazing results online from dermarolling and minoxidil from guys who went in norwood 4/norwood 3v and came out with full looking heads of hair in short periods of time. They basically started where I'm starting now. I was wondering if anyone personally here has had that type of success in short-term or long-term? I'm 4 days into routine and feel that I already notice a few dark hairs springing up.

My plan is to use 1.5 mm dermaroller with 1200 pins once a week and maybe an occasional .5mm throughout the week. I'm also using the liquid version of minoxidil instead of the foam 2x a day/ 6 days a week. So far I like it better than the foam. I will also continue nizoral and biotin for whatever that does. Any advice or success stories are appreciated. It was someone here who explained to me what dermarolling was in another thread I had made so this forum has already helped me get started on this journey of attempting regrowth

OP without finasteride your results ( if any ) will not last long. minoxidil works well for about a year without finasteride then results gradually diminish. With finasteride your minoxidil results can be exponentially prolonged.

Are you sure it won't last long with derma rolling and minoxidil? I just don't want to take finasteride because of sides. The sides I've heard about don't sound good, especially since I like to work out a lot. I don't want anything effecting my testosterone levels in a negative way

I'm positive. Dermarolling will give you better results faster with minoxidil but it doesn't actually help with the root problem that's causing the hair loss. finasteride sides are rare.. Also taking finasteride actually increases testosterone.

You shouldn’t be worried about finasteride sides. People who obsess about sexual sides going into finasteride are the ones that tend to get them the most from what I’ve seen on here. Coincidence? I believe many sexual issues are psychological.

Not discrediting side effects because they do happen, but I think a lot of them are mental.

What about when you're older and get off finasteride? If it increases test, will your test plunge without it? I have heard that it increases test also, I just meant I was worried how the impact would be long-term on my hormone level. I'm probably overthinking it; I just want to be sure before I ingest something that's got a reputation for hormonal side effects that can be permanent

Who said I was getting off finasteride? Lol. I'm on it for life. First off the side effects are not permanent, that's ridiculous and scaremongering. Sides can however last for a while after the drug is stopped and Merck has recognized this. The truth is you really need a drug like finasteride for long term success.. If you are happy with one year of results then back to being bald then that is your decision, but think carefully about it. Being bald is permenant.. ( usually.) Side effects at not.

I didn't mean you in particular, I just meant in general. I heard somewhere that you have to get off certain hair medications if you want children. I think Ashton Kutcher said in an interview that he quit Avodart (which is not finasteride, but dutasteride) to have children. Not sure if its the same situation with finasteride?

Btw I don't mean any offense by these questions, just trying to gather as much information as I can so I make a more informed decision before I try adding anything else to my routine.

Ashton Kutcher is also tall, handsome, rich, and has a beautiful wife. It’s easy for someone like him to say “f*** it” and let it all go. With the head full of hair he has, he’ll probably maintain and recede so slowly that there will be other options aside from dustasteride by then to give him his hair back. Not to mention he quit to have kids, doesn’t mean he’ll stick to it forever.

My point was that finasteride and dutasteride seem to effect hormones and I'm not sure if I want to try that. Then again I'm not fully informed on the subject. All I was saying with him is that he had to get off it in order to have children according to him.

He took it for 15 years from 25 until 40 and if anything he could go back on it after having the kids.

Not exactly. I forget which but it increases total or free testosterone and decreases the other.

rest of your post I agree with
