I went to the derm again and told her this and she said she doesnt reccomend propecia yet because of my age and because Im not balding yet(but i am). This doesnt make sense because I thought waiting for it to get worse is the worst thing u can do at this point.

hahaha listening to a woman let alone a woman that is a dermatologist is just a waste of time. next time u go to that dermatologist ask for male assistance that can actually relate to your problems instead of some bimbo female that will prescribe u biotin which does absolutely nothing for your hair. tell her that its your decision to use propecia and if she still says no threaten her by saying that you'll buy it online without any counseling or help which is way more dangerous (it really aint but say it for dramatic effect lol). thats atleast what I did and I've got it prescribed.

OTHERWISE, just order it online and dodge the headache. seriously, lol

Very odd thing to say that you're too young for it. The minimum age for taking Propecia is 18, so if you're balding and above that age, there's no reason not to take it (other than cost).

By the looks of it, you should get on it. Better catching hair loss early than waiting for things to fritter away right before your very eyes.

If your sure you have male pattern baldness and have lost hair, and you have bad family history I would see a different derm and come away with nothing short of propecia. Its worth a try despite the risks its the only thing that works.

Funny thing is, my mom said the exact same thing. Shes like I should go to a male derm cuz my current one doesnt know how it feels like to be a balding young man. And yeah ive been using biotin and minoxidil which isnt doing jack sh*t. Ever since i started using minoxidil my hairline actually got worse.

Yeah thats what im doing. If i get on propecia within the next month could I possible gain back my hairline and keep it for another 10 yrs or so? Honestly because balding is very strong on my dads side im not even sure if finasteride would work for me lol. Literally every male in their side of the family was NW7 in early 20s late teens.

Very minor hairloss, you caught it just in time! If your derm won't prescribe you finasteride then buy it online, its probably cheaper too.

If it wasnt for being scared of side effects, I would have got on at the first sign. I always knew it was in the cards because of family history so I kept an eye on my hair ever since I got alopaciea areata back when I was 17(it grew back though). Do you take finasteride urself? Did you have any side effects at all? Im planning on starting with 0.25mg every other day and increasing the dose slowly over time.

Im gonna go to her again and ask for it. Honestly it wasnt that she wouldnt prescribe it, it was more of her convincing me not to take it right now. If I had solidly asked her for it then she would have most likely given it. Also i was scared shitless of sides back then after going on these forums and seeing people saying their diks fell off.

From where I am right now, is it possible that I can regrow my full hairline and keep it for a long time even though my family history is notorious for hairloss? Or is it more likely ill bald within the next 5 yrs or so.

That depends, its unlikely you will regrow anything. Maintenance or slow down of hair loss is what you can realistically expect. In my case finasteride didn't work at all and hair loss isn't that bad in my family.

Did finasteride give you any sides though when you tried it?

i've been on finasteride for a little over a month. No side effects and am already seeing hair coming back.
Lucky man, you should share pics at 6 months.
