Hi all,

Apologies that I haven't introduced myself yet, but been looking around and some very useful info on here so I'm sure to stick around. I've been using nanogen fibres for over 1 year now and looking for something that will make my own hair grow bac, I'm getting sick of black pillows from nano! Haha

My question....

I've noticed that Declan f( ant and dec) has been in the media lately and admits to taking propecia tablets, his hair really does look much now. I googled propecia and it says that ou have to get a prescription from GP however it's not available in this country so you have to order it from abroad with a prescription! Is this true?

Like I say I'm fed up with nanogen now, it's a great product but looking to try out getting my own hair back ( crown)

if I can't get propecia, another tablets. I see nanogen do tablets but the ingredients are basically iron, zinc, and B6,

Your advice would be great!

Thanks

I'm assuming you're in the UK since you know Ant and Dec.

Propecia is available on prescription in the UK. Your doctor can prescribe it, but you can get prescriptions for it relatively easily online. It does't seem to be a strongly controlled prescription only drug.

I used Boots online consultation, and had it a few days later. Other online pharmacies do it but seem pricier (if anyone knows any forless than £30 for a month's supply please let met know because I'd definitely check it out!) Boots is approx £30 per month, but the first one is just over £40 because you can only buy 1 month's supply at first (£30 per month when you buy it in three month supplies). I have no idea how much it is from an NHS consultation (NHS doctors will prescribe it, but you pay the full cost of the drug).

You can also get generic finasteride, which is pretty much the same as/similar to Propecia, but that's genrally only available online. I'm a fanny and I'm too scared to order from places I don't know.

There's a place in London called the Belgravia Centre who do phone consultations and prescribe their own regime, but from what I read they're relatively expensive.

And, although Dec's hair has got much thicker I can be pretty certain that they use some kind of concealer on him, which they do a lot of in TV and flm.

like the guy above said, go to Boots if you don't mind forking out the extra monies.

i had my consultation there too but decided to just buy from inhouse pharmacy because it's so much cheaper. i got Ciplar's Finpecia because a few people on here had tried it with good results. & tbh I don't see how generic finasteride can be any different to Propecia because they still have the same active ingredient.
