Dead hairs sitting on scalp in morning

For the past few months I have started to notice lots of dead hair and flakes sitting on top of my scalp when i wake up in the morning. I can tell these hairs apart because I see "white bulbs" all over my scalp. This doesn't usually happen during the day. I do apply minoxidil and take finasteride prior to bedtime. Anyone else notice this when they wake up?
