i am not quite sure if this is what people mean by receding temples, but hopefully someone can help me with this. not only is my hairline going back in the v shape resulting in a higher forehead, which isnt too bad yet, but what bothers me most is the sides, like right above the ears. this hair is getting thinner and thinner and is resulting in a wider forehead, which i am finding to be more bothersome. is there anything to rememdy this? thanks.

Sorry kiddo.. you is gonna go bald.

Happening to me too... I hate it more than anywhere else on my head. It won't go away completely though, not mine at least.

minoxidil works on the sides too probably.

First of all, totally screw you for showing me the Whalers' logo. I be from the Hartford area, and it always makes me sad to see that thing, that thing that is no more! Such a cool logo, such a shame it be gone for de good. I not forget the 'Brass Bonanza' neither!

But hey, about your forehead... I too was greatly troubled by my forehead growth. minoxidil did the job for me. Really thickened up the front and regrew hair in front too.

Perhaps you try it for 4-6 months, AYE? And read this study, minoxidil CAN work for de front!

Increased Frontal Scalp Coverage and Frontal Hair Regrowth with 5% and 2% Minoxidil Topical Solution"
Elise A Olsen, M.D.; Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC; David A. Whiting, M.D.; University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX; Jeffrey J. Miller, M.D.; Penn State College of Medicine, Hershey, PA
Frontal and vertex areas of the scalp in men with androgenetic alopecia (Androgenetic Alopecia) were assessed and treated in the pivotal clinical studies with 5% and 2% minoxidil topical solution. The efficacy and safety of 5% and 2% minoxidil topical solution have been demonstrated in target areas on the leading edge of vertex balding in a 48-week, randomized, placebo-controlled study of men with vertex pattern 3, 4, 5, or 6 hair loss based on the Savin Male Pattern
and Density Scale (Olsen et al, 2002, in press).
Patients were instructed to apply 5% or 2% minoxidil topical solution or placebo to the frontal/parietal areas of the scalp twice daily.
In order to assess the effect of 5% and 2% minoxidil on change in frontal/parietal scalp hair coverage, an independent panel of 3 blinded experts retrospectively reviewed photographs of the frontal scalp from patients who participated in this study.
Photographs from 139 patients in the 5% minoxidil topical solution group, 142 patients in the 2% group, and 71 patients in the placebo group were reviewed and scored to determine changes in scalp coverage and central hair part width.
The photographs consisted of standardized, reproducible, digitized views of Polaroid photographs taken of the superior frontal/parietal scalp at baseline and at weeks 16 and 48. Change from baseline in scalp coverage was measured on a 7-point categorical scale. The
median of the Global Panel Review scores from the 3 independent reviewers was reported.
Scores for patients in both the 5% and 2% minoxidil topical solution treatment arms at weeks 16 and 48 indicated significantly greater frontal scalp coverage compared to placebo (p<.001).
Frontal scalp coverage for 33% of patients in the 5% group, 15% in the 2% group, and 6% in the placebo group at week 16 was rated as moderately or greatly increased. At weeks 16
and 48, frontal scalp coverage rating scores were significantly higher for patients in the 5% minoxidil topical solution group compared with the 2% minoxidil topical solution and placebo groups (p<.001).
The findings of this retrospective analysis provide useful information for clinicians who monitor and treat patients with Androgenetic Alopecia.

The sides are absolutely uncontrolable. My hair is curly and during the day i'll inspect it to see if any hairs have become lose or are coming out. Almost always will I find lots of hairs on the side of my head that are loose. In fact that's probably the place where I experience the most shedding right now. It's a b**ch because I used to be able to curl it forward to make my hair look fuller but now i'm having to cover the spots. Will things ever look up?

Advice for you temples. Just cover them with the double comb over like Fry.

How do I get my hair to be like Donald Trump? Would that be a triple comb over? His hair is so cool.

I'm not sure how much regrowth you can get on minoxidil. You look good with the shaved head. Your lucky that if worst comes to worst you could rock the MJ look and still be fine.

Is that some fuzz over your temples still? If so, you're lucky. You could definitely see some thickening there. I've yet to see someone grow hair on a slick area of the scalp, even if its a newly receded 1 inch of temple loss. If its slick, its hard to get back. You can always try though!

Badasshairday,

That's some f*cked up recession dude. It's weird how far it goes back in that direction. I don't think that I have ever seen just purely temple loss that deep. Strange.

I have a bit of that, however it's about 3/4 of the way from center that creeps back giving the v that is killing me.

Not sure which one is worse.

yea, well i am not looking for major results like getting a NW1 hairline... i know thats out of the question. I am just hoping for a little improvement. I do have very tiny hairs on the temples. They are pretty much peach fuzz that don't mature. Hopefully i can gain a few millimeters back at the temples. If minoxidil 5% can help me get just a little improvement eg. some thicker peachfuzz and some healthier hair's, i figure i'll jump onto xandrox 15% and hopefully that can finish up what the 5% couldn't. It's worth a try.

The recession looks even worse because i still have that triangle of hair that is not receded at all. If that went back a cm it wouldn't look as bad. So somtimes i just shave it a little bit or usually i just get my haircut faded up a number 0 on the sides so you can't even see it. Also my frontal hairline isn't receding, its just the temples that have. It just bugs, but i can live with the receded temples. I just want to stop them from progressing any more. The thing that really bothers me is that i have been diffusing up top. Started on propecia for that. I only apply minoxidil to the temples.
