When people say they cut their own hair, do they mean with a pair of scissors, and have a decent bit of length to their side hair, or do they mean using a clipper with a guard where you just run the clipper over your side hair?

My style currently is buzzed on the sides, like an undercut (think Cillian Murphy in Peaky Blinders) but I'd like to have the sides a bit longer. Does anyone use a clipper with a guard on it, and does it look good? My current clipper has no guards, but my old did. Kind of just remember it being a bit untidy when I just ran the clipper with a guard.

I bought a Wahl set about 5 years ago. Has always worked great. I also use Scissors and a razor comb. If your results were "untidy" it likely means that you did not use the guards correctly. With some practice the process is quite simple.

Flowbee also has many happy users.
