Custom Vs. Pre-made: Is There Anything Wrong With A Pre-made System?

Hey all!

I've been wearing a system for about a month and a half now. I ordered my current system custom-made from Norwood Lace and, while I like my new look overall, I wasn't particularly pleased with the thickness and construction of the system (hair in the back CONSTANTLY sticks up).

I was talking to the specialist that cut in my first piece to see what they offered and he suggested that I order a pre-made system through them for my next piece, because it's not only cheaper, but there are a wide range of colors and thicknesses that you can order in a pre-made piece. He also said that once the piece is in, they can cut the piece down to the exact shape and size I would like.

Do you see any reason that I would opt in for a custom over a pre-made? Has anyone had a bad experience with a pre-made piece? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Colour match is probably your issue. I had a salon try to sell me on it, and were saying they'd dye my own hair to match. (think about how odd that would look within weeks).

Nothing is wrong with a pre-made hair system, here are some points to consider:

Reasons to choose a stock hair system:
Quick shipping for folks who know exactly what they want (base, color, etc).
Quick turnaround for small customizations (base trimmed to size or curl down to 25mm).
Once you decide on what you like, you can buy and have 2-3 systems right away, and save $$.

Reasons to chose a custom hair system:
You have a head shape that can benefit from a custom template
You have a need for special hair density distributions
You require longer hair
You have a color pattern that cannot be gotten from a stock unit
You need a tighter curl or a mix of curl diameters
You have a custom hairline goal that cannot be achieved with a stock unit

A good company will have enough choices to match your natural hair color unless you have some weird color patter or require lots of gray.

BaldBearded resumed it well.
Another point to consider is that a stock pieces, depending on your supplier, are fully refundable ( conditions apply such as untouched package, within 5 days, etc..) whereas custom are non-refundable.
if color match isn'ton spot, well you can return a stock piece.
Some of my favorite pieces have been stock pieces.
